What Age Should My Children Be To Go To Walt Disney World?

Pooh Bear

The age at which you take your children to Walt Disney World is up to you. Everyone has an opinion on this subject. If you decide to take a baby, 0-2 years, will they remember, nope, but you will.

The first time we took our children our daughter was four and our son was 22 months. I wish we had taken my daughter sooner. We had a character breakfast every morning and took our time throughout the day. We rode rides and met characters. Did we watch any of the fireworks, no. We were usually back at the hotel by eight o'clock. The trip was magical. What about taking a preschooler, 3-5 years old? This is a very magical age for a child to go to Disney World. Everything they see and do is fantastic. Will they be able to ride every ride? No, but they still believe. They don't see someone in a costume, they see Mickey Mouse.

The second time my children went my daughter was five and, my son was three. With the help of a stroller this time we were able to watch the fireworks. Yes we waited in every character line and rode Small World over and over again and we still had an incredible time. The next age group is 5-7 years old. By now children are in school and this changes how one plans their trip.

The big question is asked, do I take my children out of school for our vacation? This question is also associated with many opinions. Some people because of their work schedules do not have a choice and have to go during the summer. Some people do have the work flexibility and pull their children from school.

For our next trip, my daughter was seven and in first grade and my son was five and in pre-kindergarten. We pulled the kids for a week for our trip. This trip was the best trip so far. My daughter was old and tall enough to ride everything. My son was almost tall enough, he wasn't able to ride Primeval Whirl in the Animal Kingdom. For both of my kids there was still magic. No more naps during the day in the stroller and no diapers to change. It was wonderful. Any child from age seven on is going to have a great time. The child should be tall enough to ride anything and they will be able to enjoy all of the shows.

Once again what age you take your children to Disney World is up to you. No matter the age the children and you will have a fantastic time. Just make sure your plan around the age of your children, will they need naps, are they being potty trained, some things you will not be able to accomplish. But no one can do everything at Disney World in one trip anyway. So you might have to go back, that would not be the worst thing.

Great Places To Breastfeed At Walt Disney World

February 23, 2016:WDW Lovin Mama
When compiling a list of places to breastfeed in the parks I took into consideration, privacy and noise level. My children had to have a quiet space if there was a slight noise, the process was stopped and then they would become fussy. Not fun. So this is a list of places in each park that is quiet and either secluded or semi-secluded. I recommend bringing a cover or blanket also, some areas are not well shaded and in case you or your baby wants a little more privacy.
Baby Care Centers
Every park has a Baby Care Center where you can find breastfeeding rooms as well as changing tables, diapers and baby food

MAGIC KINGDOM
Baby Care Center--Main Street, U.S.A., beside Crystal Palace
Main Street, U.S.A.
In the little cul de sac right outside of Crystal Arts, a quiet bench area
Pinocchio Village Haus--Fantasyland
Outside of the restaurant are tables with umbrellas
Carrousel of Progress--Tommorrowland
This attraction is on my list because it is a dark attraction and rarely crowded. So you will be able to breastfeed in semi privacy while enjoying an attraction.
Enchanted Tiki Room--Adventureland
Just like the Carrousel of Progress this attraction is rarely crowded and semi dark.
Sunshine Terrace--Adventureland
Bench area across from the restaurant. This bench area is quiet and a little secluded.
Sleepy Hollow--Liberty Square
The eating area is a nice quiet area with a lot of space

EPCOT
Baby Care Center--Future World Odyssey Center
Future World
Benches between Mission Space and Ellen's Energy Adventure
Imagination Pavilion
Benches outside, quiet area
World Showcase
Benches in World Showcase on the water
Liberty Inn--America
Tables outside of the restaurant, shaded and quiet. Also a bathroom is close by
International Gateway
An area between France and United Kingdom, by the water. People tend to stick to the walkway, which is right above this area.

HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS
With more and more of Hollywood Studios being closed and construction taking place, areas may be blocked.
Baby Care Center--Main Entrance, to the left, across from Crossroads Of The World
Tables--Echo Lake
Across from 50's PrimeTime are a couple of tables, shade
Backlot Express--Echo Lake
Tables outside of the restaurant, secluded, shaded and lots of space
Studio Catering Co.--Streets Of America
Lots of tables in a shaded area
Starring Rolls--Sunset Boulevard
Tables outside of the restaurant, the restaurant closes early so this space is usually vacant

ANIMAL KINGDOM
The Animal Kingdom has a lot of places that are benches, out of the way and quiet.
Baby Care Center--Discovery Island
Beside Creature Comforts
Flame Tree Barbeque--Discovery Island
Outdoor seating in a shaded area
Tusker House--Africa
In general I would say stay away from the Africa section of the park to breastfeed. It can become very loud and once again, if your children are anything like mine were, one loud noise and they would stop and then start to fuss. But if you do not have a choice, because we all know who is running the show, there is an area outside of the Tusker House with tables and in the shade.
Dino Trail--Dinoland
On this trail there are benches, this area is often overlooked.
Yak & Yeti Quick Service Restaurant--Asia
Lots of tables, some in the shade and some not
Maharajah Jungle Trek--Asia
Benches in a quiet area throughout the trail

*If you have breastfed in other areas please let me know.*
