Planning Your Travel Days

A travel day is the day you arrive and the day you leave Walt Disney World. There is a lot to consider when planning your travel days.
Will You Be Driving?

If you are driving, do you plan to drive straight through or spend the night along the way to break up your trip.

Will You Be Flying?

Magical Express

Will you be taking an early, mid-day or late flight? Do you have a lot of options? Where I live the flights are either early in the morning or late in the evening. Once you arrive in Orlando will you be using Magical Express For More Information on Magical Express
the complimentary transportation from the Orlando International Airport to Walt Disney World, or renting a car?

The Parks

WDW Castle

Another thing to consider is would you like to visit on of the parks on your travel days? Or would you rather spend that time at your resort, visiting another resort or at Disney Springs?

Examples Of Travel Days

For the examples of travel days I am going to use my family's travel days from our last Walt Disney World vacation. When my family travels to Walt Disney World we prefer to fly. As I stated before our options are limited for flight times, if we would like to visit a park on our travel days. Although we live withing two hours of three major airports, direct flights to Orlando are either in the early morning or late afternoon/evening.

Flight: 8:05AM---10:30AM
Once we arrived at the Orlando International Airport, we boarded the Magical Express. I received a text on the Magical Express that our room was ready. Once we arrived at our resort, we dropped some things off at our room and caught the bus for the Magic Kingdom. By one o'clock we were walking down Main Street.
I had reserved three fastpasses for our arrival day. After the fastpasses we headed to Ohana for an early dinner then back to our resort to unpack and rest for the next day.

Be Our Guest Rose

I booked a late flight for my family because we had planned to visit the Magic Kingdom on our last day. We started the day with breakfast at the Crystal Palace (8:05am). Because we had to leave the Magic Kingdom four hours before our flight (Magical Express will pick you up at your resort three hours before your flight time when flying domestic), I reserved our Fastpasses for the mid morning/early afternoon. After our Fastpasses we enjoyed a late lunch at Be Our Guest then headed to our resort.
Flight: 6:20pm--8:45pm

DIY Mr. Smee Halloween Costume

Pirates are a popular Halloween costume. Peter Pan is a beloved Walt Disney movie. So why not combine the two. With the popularity of Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Captain Hook and Mr. Smee have made a comeback. For an easy Do It Yourself Halloween costume I choose Mr. Smee. My family will be attending Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party this year and we have a Peter Pan theme.

Items You Will Need:
1. a plain white t shirt (I bought one a JoAnn Fabrics for $5)
2. Santa hat
3. painter's tape
4. red spray paint that matches the Santa hat
5. light blue fabric paint
6. small paintbrush
7. light blue/jean shorts

Plain White T Shirt
A regular plain white t shirt is the best. Make sure it is baggy because Mr. Smee wears baggy clothes.
Plain White T Shirt With Painters Tape
Using Painters Tape I marked out the lines for the stripes on the front and back of the shirt and on the sleeves. I placed small pieces of the painters tape within the stripes that will be painted blue. I placed cardboard in the main part of the shirt and newspaper in the sleeves, so the paint would not leak through and transfer to the other side of the shirt.
By gently squeezing the light blue paint on small sections of the stripes and using a paint brush I worked my way across the strip areas. I completed the front side first, let it dry overnight (even though the paint said it would be completely dry in 4 hours) then I completed the backside and the sides of the stripes to connect the front and the back.
After 72 hours I washed the t shirt to soften the paint a little.
Next up was the Santa hat.
Santa Hat
First I cut down the white trim and the white ball to eliminate any excess fuzz. Then in stages I spray painted the hat with the red spray paint. I painted the whole hat, not just the white areas, so the color would be consistent.
The final product was an easy do it yourself Mr. Smee.

Fantastic Fall Favorites at Walt Disney World

The kids are back to school, football has begun and pumpkin spice is everywhere that could only mean one thing, its FALL. Fall is my favorite time of year, my birthday, the leaves change color, my birthday, Halloween, football, did I mention my birthday. Ok enough monkeying around let's talk Walt Disney World. Fall at Walt Disney World consists of music, wine, food and a party, actually any of these could be a party.
Night of Joy
Time: September
Night of Joy is a musical event featuring Christian bands and singer, songwriters. The event requires a separate ticket and takes place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. This event is very popular with youth groups so if you are interested in attending next year, I suggest contacting a TA, like myself, or be on the look out for tickets, they go fast.

Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend
Time: November, usually in the beginning
Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend consists of three races, the half marathon, a 10K race and a 5K race. The runners in the half marathon will run through the parks. A post race party for the participants takes place at Epcot's Food & Wine Festival. RunDisney events are extremely popular and have been know to sell out on the first day of the sale. Honestly I am not a runner, the only time in my life when I can visualize myself running would be in a zombie apocalypse. I have heard, from clients, very good things. This race is not as crowded as the marathon in January. On a side note, participants love to dress up, tutus, wings, hats, so that would be something to consider.

Epcot International Food & Wine Festival
Time: September---November
The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival, included with admission to Epcot, features food booths with cuisine from countries not found in the World Showcase. As a bonus the festival has culinary demonstrations, wine, beer and spirits seminars and cheese seminars, at an additional charge and reservations need to be made. At Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It you can learn food and drink techniques from experts. Also at the America pavillion the Eat to the Beat Concert Series, featuring once popular bands conducting three shows nightly. New to this year, the festival offered demonstrations at resorts like the Polynesian Trader Sam's. These demonstrations are an additional charge and require reservations.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party
Time: September---October 31st, select nights
Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party is a hard ticket event, which means a separate ticket is required. On select nights the party takes place in the Magic Kingdom from 7:00pm to 12:00am. Party guests will be able to enter the Magic Kingdom at 4:00pm. Party guests may wear costumes, recently Disney changed the costume policy so please consult, for more information on Walt Disney World's costume policy. Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party has entertainment that you will not find outside of the party. Treat or treating stations are set up around the park. A Monsters Inc. themed dance party takes place in Tomorrowland. Special character meet and greets like Jack Skellington and Sally from Nightmare Before Christmas, can currently be found between the castle and Liberty Square, behind the Christmas Shop. The three main events of the party are the Hocus Pocus Villian Spelltacular Stage Show, on the stage in front of the castle. The show features the Sanderson Sisters from Hocus Pocus. The Boo To You Halloween Parade takes place two times during every party. And finally a special Celebrate the Magic projection show on the castle, with Happy HalloWishes following. My suggestion is to ride the Haunted Mansion during the party too. The ride is the same but it is the Halloween party. Special party merchandise can be found throughout the party, as well as Halloween themed treats.

Fall at Walt Disney World is a special time. The crowds and the temperature tend to be lower. September can see a little more rain than the rest of fall. A vacation to Walt Disney World is well worth it, if its just to see the decorations at the Magic Kingdom.

Top 5 Movies To Watch Before Your Disney Vacation

When I reviewed my massive Disney movie collection to determine which movies are a must watch before a Walt Disney World vacation, I am not going to lie it was difficult. Finally I decided on movies that have an impact on more than one park, well except for number five. The fifth movie was chosen because it currently has a big presence in the park it calls home and in the hopefully not to distant future, like before I have grandchildren, it will own the park (can you guess what it is). Disney has cornered the market on princesses so three out of the five are princess movies, my apologies. I will have a future post listing the honorable mentions.

Disney Store Outlet Haul

Recently, while visiting an amusement park who shall not be named in Pennsylvania, I stopped at a Disney Store Outlet, couldn't help myself. If I am an hour within a Disney store I have to just "check it out". Of course it is never just browsing and results in my family stopping me from buying things I don't need (Yea like that is true when it comes to Disney) and pulling me out of the store. I am actually not kidding. Any who, on this trip I was able to pick up a couple of things before my family was sick of the store. I found it interesting that all of the discounted merchandise was from Disneyland.

Watch for the more on the Disney Haul

Long Sleeve Shirt
The first thing I saw was an adorable t shirt, unfortunately the store did not have my size so I picked up the long sleeve version. I am happy that I saw this because I tend to be cold, 10 months out of the year, so the long sleeve shirt is prefect. I love the simple design. I bought a size medium, it fits, will not be able to go in the dryer. I find that Disney sizes tend to run small.

Halloween Sweatshirt
I browsed the super duper discount section and found a Disneyland Halloween sweatshirt from 2015. It was the only one the store had, I LOVE IT!! Halloween is my favorite holiday and the picture on the front is so cute. The sweatshirt is soft and comfortable.

Antenna Topper
Also in the discount section I found a bin of antenna toppers. The last antenna topper I had was a Mickey head. The poor thing lasted two weeks and lost an ear. This time I found a Madame Leota topper. If you don't already know I am a huge, huge fan of the Haunted Mansion. This topper will not go on my car and for a dollar I could not pass her up.

Finally my children added two more Tsum Tsums to their collections. My daughter was torn between Ariel in her pink dress or Marie, she finally decided on Marie. My son knew who he wanted, he has been asking about the Beauty and the Beast Tsum Tsum series for a couple of weeks. They were released recently, so he received the Beast Tsum Tsum. Make no mistake the kids had to earn them by doing chores. Nothing like starting them early on my Disney obsession.

Haunted Mansion Subscription Box Gift

Watch for more on the gift

The Haunted Mansion Subscription Box was a box filled with puzzles and goodies from the Haunted Mansion.
Haunted Mansion Box
The residents of the mansion needed help from "Foolish Mortals" to solve the mystery of why a fog had encased the mansion preventing the ghosts from going home with the mansion's visitors. By the end of box #3 the mystery was solved and the ghosts are free to come and go as they please. As a show of their appreciation the residents sent me a gift. The gift was "wrapped" in an envelope with a picture of the Haunted Mansion from Disneyland.

On the inside of the envelope was a message,
Dearest Mortal,
I write you on behalf of all the ghosts, ghouls, spirits, shades and other ghostly residents of the Haunted Mansion.
We wish to express our deepest gratitude for your steadfast aid and resolute ingenuity in our time of crisis.
As a small specter of appreciation for your help with our chilling challenge, please accept this haunting portrait.
Spiritedly yours,
Sally Slater

The gift was a picture, that I had taken during box #1, when tilted transforms into a spirit photo.
Spirit Photo
When you visit the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, in Liberty Square by the Haunted Mansion ride is a shop, Memento Mori. At Memento Mori you can bring this same token of the Haunted Mansion home for $19.95 +tax (8x10). The spirit photo is a great personalized Disney souvenir. The spirit photo I received is a great quality and the effects are incredible. The picture will be displayed in my home throughout the year. My overall impression of the Haunted Mansion Subscription Box is each box was incredible and a must for any Haunted Mansion fan. If the box series is offered again, with a different story line, I will definitely be purchasing it.

Best Table Service Restaurants
for Adults & Kids in the Parks

Restaurants that offer great dinners in which both adults and kids will enjoy.
Watch for the more on the Best Table Service Restaurants in the Parks

Magic Kingdom

Be Our Guest
Be Our Guest offers the best food for dinner in the Magic Kingdom. Adults may choose from steak, shrimp and lamb. While kids are given the options of chicken, meatloaf and grilled cheese. A wonderful bonus to this meal is the meet and greet with Beast himself.

Hollywood Studios

50's Primetime Cafe
In a recreated 1950's-1960's house, enjoy a meal consisting of comfort food. Whether you order the meatloaf, fried chicken or the pot roast, you will not be disappointed. Included in the kid's choices are fried chicken, chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese and they can even decorate their own sundae. Just make sure you don't put your elbows on the table or you might not get dessert. But if you do, the peanut butter and jelly milkshake is amazing!!

Animal Kingdom

Yak & Yeti
Not many options in the Animal Kingdom, Yak & Yeti combines Asia and India cuisine. I would describe it as above average Chinese food. From pot stickers and chicken wings to lo mein and sweet and sour chicken there is something for everyone on the menu, even a kobe burger.

Epcot is the opposite of Animal Kingdom, with a lot of choices. Almost anywhere in World Showcase is a good pick. Some restaurants provide a more adult menu. The two restaurants I chose, have proven time and time again to be a hit with the adults and kids.
Teppan Edo--Japan
A dinner at Teppan Edo will not only consist of yummy food but it will be entertaining as well. Options are from filet mignon, chicken, shrimp and swordfish for the adults. The kids have a menu consisting of shrimp, chicken and steak. For dessert the little ones have a lot of options including green tea soft serve, for the adventurous and vanilla soft serve for the not.

Rose & Crown--England
With two great areas to sit, inside where you may enjoy the pub sing along and music to outside, right on the water. Adults and children may choose from English favorites while kids also have standard choices of grilled chicken and meatballs.

Maybe you will want to be number 1000!

5 Magical Character Interactions

Watch for more information on the 5 Magical Character Interactions

Location: Magic Kingdom--Fantasyland--next to Gaston's Tavern
Gaston is hiliarous. True to character is really great with females, just don't tell him you read.

Location: Magic Kingdom--Town Square
Meeting Mickey Mouse is always spell binding but meeting talking Mickey Mouse takes it to a different level. Mickey's interaction is amazing, not only will he speak but he may sing or even play a game. The interaction differs everytime.

Location: Grand Floridian Resort--1900 Park Fare Dinner
During this dinner you will meet Cinderella, Prince Charming, Lady Tremaine, Drizella and Anastasia. While it is great to meet Cinderella and Prince Charming, the step sisters steal the show. They are funny, witty and very engaging. It is like they stepped straight out of the movie.

Location: Magic Kingdom--Fantasyland--around the corner from the Peter Pan ride towards Liberty Square
Peter Pan is fantastic! VERY talkative, the interaction is incredible. Once in a while Wendy will appear also and tell the children a story. Make sure you ask Peter to crow.

Location: Magic Kingdom--Fantasyland--Circus Area near Dumbo
Within the Big Top you may meet the Great Goofini, the Astounding Donaldo, Minnie Magnifique and Madame Daisy Fortuna. Dressed as circus performers, the characters and their scenery is adorable.

Top 5 Ways To Keep Your Cool This Summer
In The Disney Parks

Watch How To Keep Cool At Disney Parks

Water Bottle
It may seem like a simple tip, and it is, but staying hydrated while at Disney can be challenging. With so much to do and see, time can easily pass by. Whenever you can, standing in line, watching a show, during a bathroom break (just not in the bathroom) drink water. Sure you can have soda and Powerade throughout the day but try to drink at least 2 bottles of water. Kids too, I always make sure my kids have their own water bottles and I pester them all day to drink.

Hit the indoor attractions during the hottest time of the day. Mickey's PhilharMagic (Magic Kingdom), Festival of the Lion King (Animal Kingdom), the Great Movie Ride (Hollywood Studios) and Ellen's Energy Adventure (EPCOT) to name a few. A great way to get off your feet and enjoy the air conditioning.

Mickey Bar
A great time for an ice cream treat is the afternoon. There are a lot of carts with the signature Mickey bar or head to an ice cream shop like the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor in the Magic Kingdom or Aloha Isle, also in the Magic Kingdom for a Pineapple Dole Whip. If you are in EPCOT there is a gelati stand in Italy and L'Artisan des Glaces in France. (Don't forget the napkins!!)

Whether you purchase them at home (which I recommend) or in the park, water misters are a great way to refresh yourself throughout the day.

Splash Mountain
There are splash play areas or giant misters in every park. In the Magic Kingdom the splash play area is Casey jr. Splash 'N' Soak Station and in EPCOT there are small splash play areas in between Future World and World Showcase. The afternoon is a great time to ride the water rides. Kali River Rapids in the Animal Kingdom and Splash Mountain in the Magic Kingdom will add a cool off to your hot day.

Haunted Mansion Subscription Box #3 Review Part 2

Master Gracey
This review of part 2 of the third Haunted Mansion Box is the final review of the series. Upon discovering the Forgotten Room, the residents of the Haunted Mansion have come to the realization that they have forgotten many details about their lives. By remembering the particulars of the mansion could the fog be lifted and the ghosts receive their freedom? Let's find out, the contents that will be explored are the thaumatrope, the spirit board, the portal, the cards and the Grim Gazette.

Watch Haunted Mansion Subscription Box #3 Part 2

Watch Haunted Mansion Subscription Box #3 Card Game

Spirit Board

The spirit board is a replica of a board that Madame Leota uses in her seances. The spirit board has the alphabet at the top and a spot for your phone at the bottom. The phone was placed with the screen on the board. Using the gold bat from the first box, I spelled out parts of the incantation on the board. The first part was discovered when the tea cup, from the first box, was placed on the saucer. The words "Grim Grinning Ghosts Come Out To Socialize" was visible. Each letter had to be added so Madame Leota could receive my message. After Grim, Grinning and Ghosts were spelled out, Madame Leota and the other ghosts were able to figure out the rest of the saucer's message. Next up was the thaumatrope. Supposedly the words were visible as the thaumatrope was spinning. This did not happen. I had to piece together the words to finish the incantation. On the Master Gracey portrait side,
Master Gracey
the words "restore, what, prize, and mortals" were written. Then on the Master Gracey death portrait side,
Master Gracey
the words "to, all spirits, spooks mobilize" were visible. This part of the incantation took a long time to enter on the spirit board. Madame Leota kept reading the letter M as Z. When the next letter was entered or if I tried to enter M again, a ghost would state that it was the wrong incantation and to start all over again. Sometimes I was able to start at this spot but then Z kept popping up. Other times I had to start from the beginning, making this part of the box last an hour. It was very frustrating. Once the incantation was finally received by Madame Leota, a message appeared on the spirit board in the dark. The message was "Haunting Restored". By the residents of the mansion remembering the song, "Grim Grinning Ghosts" the fog encasing the mansion disappeared.

The portal was the final item of the box pertaining to the mystery. By scanning the portal then placing my phone within the device, three of the ghosts appeared, Pepper Ghost trick and sang excerpts from "Grim Grinning Ghosts". This was the best part of the third box. The effect was spot on and a wonderful piece of Disney magic.

Grim Gazette
The Grim Gazette

As a bonus a repica set of Madame Leota's cards were included in the box. At first glance the cards appear to be a set of playing cards. But once inspected it is revealed that the cards are numbered 2 to 13. All four suits are represented with a sort of filigree design, Haunted Mansion style. In the middle of the Grim Gazette was a section titles, Voince on Bridge, Postitional and Antipositional Approaches: A Theory of Numerology. Six sections for the cards are labeled, Past, Present, Future, Fate, Destiny and Inspiration. By following Madame Leota's instructions and placing the cards in the sections the end result is whether or not you have the gift of sight. To watch this card game in action please tune in to my YouTube channel, WDW Lovin Mama. The third box of the series was not a disappointment. The items in the box were engaging and just too cute. The saucer and the portal are the stand outs. All in all I loved the whole Haunted Mansion subscription box. Each box was fun to complete. With the Haunted Mansion being my favorite attraction, I loved having a touch of Disney magic in my home.

Haunted Mansion Subscription Box #3 Review Part 1

Haunted Mansion Box
The third installment of the Haunted Mansion Subscription Box arrived at my house. Hopefully the unanswered question, Are the residents of the Haunted Mansion able to break through the fog and leave the mansion?, will be answered. This box brought excitement and sadness. Excitement because the Haunted Mansion Subscription Box brought a little of Disney magic home, sadness because this is the last box in the series. For this review part 1, I will explore half of the box then continue the rest of the box in part 2. The contents that will reviewed are the letter from the Ghost Relations Department, the Grim Gazette, the saucer found in the forgotten room and the thaumatrope, a magical charm.

Watch Haunted Mansion Subscription Box #3 Part 1

Letter From the Ghost Relations Department

The letter lists the objects that arrived in box #3. As in the first two letters, at the bottom the letter states that the ghosts have added their own messages and mortals should dampen the letter with water to reveal the message. Once the letter was dampened the letter stated the ghosts are very happy to have talented mortals helping them through this tough time. The items retrieved from the Forgotten Room are of the utmost importance and by using these objects the ghosts will be able to travel beyond the mansion. Pertaining to the items the dampened letter hints at using the tea cup from the first box to read the tea leaves on the back of the Grim Gazette. The tea cup, when properly placed on the saucer will also be important. The thaumatrope must be winded up and let go to channel the spirit energies. The spirit board is wonderful to communicate and interrupt incantations. The portal, should everything else work, will allow the ghosts to travel to my home. Finally the cards are a bonus from Madame Leota.

Grim Gazette
The Grim Gazette

The Grim Gazette, as in the first two boxes, was an absolute delight to read. A couple of the articles, "The Forgotten Room Is Real", and an interview with the mansion's organist, Victor Geist, pertain to the mortals helping the ghosts. An article focuses on the use of the thaumatrope, "Metaphysics Demystified". And two articles, "Voince on Bridge" and "Today's Tea Leaves". Once again the advice column of Aunt Agony is adorable. The bride from the attic giving advice to the other spirits, amazing. The advertisements within the paper pertain to the current state of the residents, so they focus on leaving th mansion and welcoming back ghosts who were unable to enter. With the assistance of the tea cup, the tea leaves on the back page read complete incantation. What does this mean? Stay tuned... The Grim Gazette is a delight to read and I would love it even if it was not part of the box.

A Saucer

The saucer was found in the Forgotten Room. It is the perfect companion to the tea cup, that was delivered in the first box. The saucer is porcelain, mainly white with a navy design around the edge, which turns out to be writing, and a beautiful drawing of Disneyland's Haunted Mansion in the center, also done in navy. After the tea cup was placed on the saucer the words Grim Grinning Ghosts Come Out To Socialize can be viewed. This incantation becomes important in the second half of the review. The saucer is functioning, hand wash only. It is a great souvenir from the Haunted Mansion. The saucer is something Disney could easily sell at Memento Mori.

Master Gracey
Master Gracey
Thaumatrope--Magical Charm

The thaumatrope has a portrait of Master Gracey on one side, in his living state, and on the other side a portrait in his departed state. The thaumatrope had to be wound up and spun supposedly to view the words. While the thaumatrope was spinning I could not read the words, so this part of the journey was pointless. On the living state side the words Restore What Prize And Mortals are visible. On the death side the words To All Spirits Spooks Mobilize are visible. These words come into play during the use of the spirit board in part two. The Thaumatrope is made out of thick paper and string and just a means of moving the game along. It could have been anything as long as those words were produced.

All in all the first part of the Haunted Mansion Box #3 was entertaining, which is the whole point. The saucer was the stand out hit and the thaumatrope was the dud. We have left the ghosts one step closer to leaving the mansion. Next week will be part 2 and we will find out if the ghosts are successful.

The character interaction is good. Each princess is introduced with a story.
You order from a menu and the food is better at dinner than breakfast.
The atomosphere is the selling point. To eat in Cinderella's castle is amazing.

Haunted Mansion Subscription Box #2 Part 1 Review

Watch Haunted Mansion Subscription Box #2 Part 1 Review

Upon reading the letter from the Ghost Relations Department it is determined that the ghosts of the Haunted Mansion still need help from the mortal world. The first part of the Haunted Mansion Box #2 consists of the Grim Gazette, the Music Box and the Scope.
The Grim Gazette
Grim Gazette
By using the tea cup from the first Haunted Mansion Box, the tea leaves on the last page of the Grim Gazette revealed a message, Seek Forgotten Room. The next step was to scan the Grim Gazette with the Phantom Radio App. I heard the ghosts discuss the need for help and if the mortals will be able to provide that help. The main clue from the radio is measurements need to be taken of the mansion.

The Scope
The Scope
The Music Box was scanned and it was stated that the Scope shoud be scanned next. The reading from the Scope was to hold it up to a mirror and spin the Scope, watching the dancers dance. Then look at the clock side of the Scope and determine which dance steps matched up with the markings on the moth eaten strips. The moth eaten strips are from the Bloodmere and Brooms advertisement from the Haunted Mansion Box #1.

The Music Box
The Music Box
Once the markings were identified the strips were fed into the Music Box, the ghost, Victor, listened through the Phantom Radio. He exclaimed if the music was correct or not. Once the correct music was played, Victor received the correct measurements. He could not figure out what to do with the measurements so he asked Madame Leota for help.

Grim Gazette
A great addition to the box. The Grim Gazette contains articles, advertisements and just a little extra magic to the experience. Using the tea cup from the first box is a wonderful way of incorporating the boxes.
The Music Box
A small recreation of the organ from the Haunted Mansion, the Music Box is adorable. Great quality, made out of wood and it works! Once again by using elements from box #1 to further the story is a great addition.
The Scope
The Scope's slits were a little narrow, making it hard to watch the dancers dance in the mirror. Also matching up the dance steps on the clock side of the Scope with the markings on the strips of the Bloodmere advertisment was a little confusing.
The best part of the Haunted Mansion Box #2 Part 1 was the Music Box. It is a great keepsake from a fantastic ride.

Haunted Mansion Subscription Box #2 Part 2 Review

The second part of the Haunted Mansion Box #2 consisted of the Drawing of the mansion doors, the Blueprint of the mansion and Madame Leota's Cards.
The Picture of the Doors
The Picture of the Doors
At the end of part one, Victor asked Madame Leota for help with analyzing the measurements. Madame Leota then directs my attention to the Picture of the Doors and asks me to scan it. After scanning the Picture, Madame Leota instructs me to gently tear the picture where it is perforated and rearrange the picture. Upon doing this an extra door is revealed.
The next task required the Grim Gazette, open to the bridge section, the Blueprints and Madame Leota's cards.

The Grim Gazette
Grim Gazette
The Blueprint of the Mansion
Madame Leota's Cards
Once the blueprint was placed on top of the Grim Gazette and lined up properly, Madame Leota's cards were placed in their proper space.

Stretching Room
Portrait Gallery
Great Hall
Endless Hall
Music Room
Using a talisman, a nickel in this case, Madame Leota guided me through the mansion and tried to figure out in which room I was located. In the end, she determined I was in the Great Hall and that the extra door must be in this room. With the mansion ghosts help the extra door was located.

The Music Box
The Music Box
By feeding the moth eaten strip that was used in part one throught the Music Box again, a tune was played on the extra door. The door opened and the ghosts encountered the lost room.

Part two of Box #2 was longer than part one.
The Picture of the Doors
An adorable picture of the mansion
Blueprints and Cards
The blueprint is cool and the cards are amazing. The downfall was the whole Madame Leota "reading". Moving the talisman around the Blueprint of the mansion was fine, Madame Leota seemed to be a little chatty. If for some reason you messed up this section you had to start from the beginning. The app could not be paused. I love how interactive the box is, I would like for the box to be a lot of little tasks rather than having a long one.

Haunted Mansion Subscription Box #1 Review

I subscribed to the Disney Haunted Mansion box subscription. This subscription consists of three boxes being delivered to my house. The first box recently arrived and you may watch my review of the box on my YouTube Channel at WDW Lovin Mama. This blog is a summary of the review. The box contained nine components. The first was a letter from the Ghost Relations Department.

HM Letter
In this letter it was stated that the ghosts of the Haunted Mansion need the help of "Foolish Mortals". Apparently the mansion has been encased in a dense fog and the ghosts can not follow anyone home. I received a code that allowed me to download an app for my phone. With this app every item had to be scanned and a message was conveyed to me by the ghost of the mansion. The box also contained instructions and pieces to build a "radio" holder for my phone and a golden bat to be used as a dial.

HM radio
HM Bat
The first item I scanned was The Grim Gazette, a tabloid for the afterlife.

HM tabloid

The scan produced a result of the ghosts are entrapped in th mansion. The next item I scanned was the radio information card.
HM Radio Paper
From this scan I found out that a committee has been formed to determine the cause of the fogging. The next item was the divination cards.
HM Cards
All of the cards produced the same result, the ghosts found out that the Haunted Mansion boxes have been sent. The next item was wedding announcement, for the bride.
HM wed
This was INCREDIBLE!!! The wedding announcement changed into a funeral announcement in the freezer. Next up was the tea cup.
HM cup
From the tea cup I learned to beware either for or of the Madame Leota. And finally the advertisment for the redusting services was last.
By placing the moth eaten ad on a certain part of the Grim Gazette a message was revealed.
The first box of the Haunted Mansion subscription was not a let down. For a true Haunted Mansion fan it was entertaining and I am looking forward to box number two!

Are Walt Disney World Vacations Too Expensive?

Many people believe that Walt Disney World is out of their price range. There are various aspects of the Disney vacation to consider, hotel, tickets, dining, flights/drive and souvenirs. If each group is separated then reviewed, you can determine what is the best way to go about your vacation.

The first question is staying off site (off of Disney property) or staying on site (within the Disney Resort).
Off Site
If you stay off site things to consider are transportation from the airport to the hotel, transportation from the hotel to the parks, time and cost. Sure a hotel might be cheaper off site but you should consider the time it will take to travel from the hotel to the park. You will have to pay for parking at the park as well.
On Site
By staying on Disney property, transportation is provided from Orlando International Airport to your Walt Disney World resort. Transportation (either by monorail, bus or boat) is provided from the hotel to each of the parks. Disney World hotels range from campgrounds ($52/night), value ($89/night), moderate ($166/night), deluxe ($289/night) and Deluxe Villas ($318/night). The prices listed are for the value season. Disney has listed their hotel prices according to seasons, value, regular, peak, fall and holidays. The prices during the value season are less than the prices during the regular season. Another bonus to staying on property, is anything you purchase in the parks can be delivered to the hotel, for free.

Walt Disney World tickets are pretty standard. You can purchase the tickets from an off site seller for a small discount. Depending on how many days you will be spending in the parks the total amount for tickets varies. The more days in the parks the less you will be spending per day. Especially starting at the five day mark. If you spend four days in the parks you are spending approximately $76.00 a day but if you spend five days in the parks you spend $63.00 a day. If you spend seven days in the parks you spend $47.00 a day. So the price does go down the more days you spend in the parks.

The dining at Walt Disney World can be subjective. Restaurants vary from quick service, which is a counter service restaurant like a fast food place, to table service restaurants, when you are seated and waited on by a cast member, and signature dining, which is the most up scale of restaurants at Disney World. Walt Disney World does offer a dining plan. The dining plan can be basic or contain more options. Obviously more options means costs more. You do not have to get the dining plan to enjoy the restaurants.

The decision is either fly or drive is up to the vacationer. If you are going to fly it is best to watch the airline's website and book the flights as soon as they are posted. Flights usually go up the closer to the date of the vacation. If you drive you might have to consider if you have to get a hotel room for a night, depending on how long the drive is.

Souvenir money depends on the person. Some people set aside $1000 to spend, while others spend $50 a person.

The takeaway from this is while Disney is not cheap it is doable. You do not have to stay at the deluxe hotel with the highest dining plan. You can stay at a value hotel and eat at the quick service restaurants and have a magical vacation.
